Registration in Instituto Cervantes

Registration period starts 3 weeks before beginning the courses in autumn, winter and spring periods. In the summer period, the registration starts 10 days before beginning the courses.

New students who have prior knowledge in Spanish language will have to take a placement test to determine their level, whereas, former students will be enrolled automatically in the next course.

Registration instructions

The registration always takes place at the centre’s secretary office. The registration procedure of special courses is identical to that of general courses.

The timetable of the secretary in registration periods is as the following:

  • Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 15:30 to 18:00

In order to register in a course you need:

  • New students: One personal photo (3x4) and the course fees.
  • Former students: Previous course’s receipt, the centre’s membership card and the course fees.

The payment of the course should always be in cash or cheque. Payment via credit cards is not allowed.

Registration conditions

Remember that the registration is subject to the following conditions:

  • The registration fees include the material of support, but it does not include the course books which are used in regular courses.
  • Instituto Cervantes has the right to cancel, change or mix any course if the number of registered students does not reach a minimum of  8 students to start a course.
  • The registration is binding. After the registration period, the fees will not be returned for any reason or circumstance, with the exception of course cancellation by the centre itself.
  • The maximum number of students per class is 20. The teachers will be controlling the absences regularly in order to ensure the students’ proper placement and continuity in the course.
  • Registering in a course is conducted in a strict order of registration. When a group is full, the student may choose another schedule for his course or to stay in the waiting list. The Instituto Cervantes, though, does not guarantee to open a new section for the students who are on the waiting list.
  • The placement test is mandatory for new students who have prior knowledge in Spanish language as well as for Instituto Cervantes former students who have not registered for any course in the Instituto for 4 months or more. And in all cases, attendance to class in taken into account when passing from one level to another.
  • No refunds are given to the student for the classes to which he/she has not attended.
  • The Instituto Cervantes has the right to cancel the opening of a course when the minimum number of students in a section is not reached, and refunds will be given to the students in that case.

General (Regular) morning and afternoon classes are given to a minimum number of 8 students, evening classes to a minimum number of 7 students and special courses to a minimum number of 7 students.

Discounts

  • Multiple registrations: If a student registers for a regular and a special course at the same time, he/she will have a discount of 10% on the special course.
  • Simultaneous registration: If two siblings register at the same time, one of them will have a discount of 10%.
  • Jordanian Spanish language teachers in educational institutions: If the teacher registers in a general or a special course, the fees will be subject to a 10% discount.

If the student is fit to one or more of the requirements to obtain discounts on the price of a course, he/she will have to inform the secretary when registering for that course. It is not possible to get a discount after registering for a course and neither to accumulate more than 20% of discounts.

Registering for special courses

In order to register for a special course, a student must follow the same procedures of registering for a regular course.

Registering for the AVE (Spanish Virtual Classroom)

In order to register for the AVE courses, a student must follow the same procedures of registering for regular courses. Broadband and a PC is needed to complete the course (AVE is not compatible with Macintosh).

Prices of the AVE courses for this semester are as following:

Licence for 1 course-15 weeks: 60 JD.

Registration for examinations for the Diplomas in Spanish language

The registration will not be considered valid until all the documentation needed and the fees of the examination are presented to the Instituto Cervantes.

The prices of the examination for the year 2013 are as following:

  • DELE A1 LEVEL: 49 JD
  • DELE A2 LEVEL: 56 JD
  • DELE B1 LEVEL: 66 JD
  • DELE B2 LEVEL: 80 JD
  • DELE C1 LEVEL: 85 JD
  • DELE C2 LEVEL: 87 JD

All students who are registered in a course in the Instituto Cervantes will benefit from a 20% discount on the examination fees. Candidates, who happen to study Spanish language in any Jordanian university, will benefit from a 10% discount on the examination fees. Both discounts cannot be accumulated.

In order to register for the examination of DELE, the following documentation must be contributed:

The registration form can be either obtained in the Instituto Cervantes in Amman or downloaded from here: registration form (PDF). There are two copies; both copies should be filled and submitted to the Instituto Cervantes in Amman.

A photocopy of an identification document accompanied with a personal picture, containing the following data: identity, nationality, place and date of birth. The data reported by the candidate in the registration form must correspond with the data in the identification document.

If you hold a nationality of a country where Spanish is the official language, you should submit a signed declaration completing at least two of the cases described in the second part of the section “General Conditions”.

As soon as the candidate is registered, he/she will be given a sealed copy of his/her registration form which contains the code assigned for him/her, and an e-mail will be sent to the candidate with the official notification of the examination including location, date and time of sitting for the examination.

Registering for teachers’ training courses

The centre informs teachers and institutions dedicated to teaching Spanish as a foreign language about programming various training courses.

Teachers interested in attending for the first time should submit their updated C.V. to the Instituto Cervantes in Amman. People interested should send their registration form by e-mail to the e-mail address acxamm@cervantes.es or by fax to the fax number (06) 4624049. The payment should be made 2 days before the beginning of the course. Training work-shops done by publishers are for free.
